While no mattress cover is 100% waterPROOF unless it is plastic, this one comes extremely close to meeting that claim and it is definitely water resistant. Has a nice soft side that faces up and the "water proof/water resistant" fabric is on the under side that faces the mattress It breathes and does not make noise But this is not a zippered mattress cover, so if you are worried about dust or bugs, then this is not the style for you; you need a zippered mattress cover.
