You'll like these.

I think if you try them you'll stay with them. These might cost more than some of the thinner bags, but I've been using these for a few years now and I have had zero problems with ripping or tearing. These aren't immune or anything, but they are far, far better than the thinner ones which just seem to tear all the time. 3 mil at this price is a fair deal. Tying them is a little awkward, they have flaps you tie across the top. But once tied, I think they are more secure than using a twistie or something.
