We have a very tiny house and a very tiny living room. We bought this door for the hobby room were my boyfriend keeps his guitars and amplifiers. There used to be a regular door there and when it' was open it took up valuable space for our TV entertainment center. Lots more room now. It will not keep pets out though. So don't plan on keeping the cat out of a certain room. They can slide the bottom open. Thats not what I got it for anyways.
