Henna Hair Dye - Light Brown

I have kept my hair my natural color for 15 years, but finally I'm grey enough I had to cave and color it. My hair is very long and the strands are brittle, so it really can't withstand the damage from chemical dye. This is what led me to try henna. I chose the Moroccan method because of the amla option, as I didn't want to end up with red hair. First, let me say that I am impressed. I have extremely stubborn greys, I've used 3 different Demi permanent dyes in the last year plus tried all the natural methods (coffee soaks, tea, etc) and nothing has touched them. The henna covered them beautifully. So that right there made it worth it. That being said, the final shade was not at all what I expected. I followed the instructions for grey coverage: I applied the henna/amla mix first, and the light brown indigo two days later (I could not wait the recommended 3 days due to scheduling conflict). The henna came out the brassy red shade you'd expect, and my family had a good laugh over it :blush: After rinsing out the indigo, the general consensus is that my hair is basically a natural shade of black. My natural color is a medium golden brown, I went a shade lighter per the instructions. And it still came out DARK. It is worth it to follow the instructions exactly and do your homework, the henna process is messy, smelly and time consuming! No more of a hassle than regular hair dye, but you want to know what you're doing before you start. I won't repeat all that here, as it can be found on any henna blog. I did lose a decent amount of hair rinsing out the henna. Lost practically none rinsing out the indigo. However both times when I washed I after 24 hours it was SOFT. As in really could've skipped conditioner soft. That never happens with my hair! Despite what came out initially I'm sure it dealt nowhere near the damage of box hair dye. Overall, I'm just happy that I found something I can color my hair with that won't destroy it, so I can keep the length. I will purchase again when I need a touch up. Just remember they really mean what they say about henna has different results for everyone- for some reason light brown came out black on my hair! But this product deserves 5 stars regardless.

I used the Light Brown Henna with the Amla. I have gray hair and chose to cover it. I also have thinning hair in front and keeping color on it is less likely that I will look like I am balding. However, two weeks later, the roots are more towards carrot while the rest of my hair is a nice brown with some red highlights. Also, I do not need the entire package of the henna colors. If I mix up the entire package I end up throwing out half of the mixture. It sure would be nice if the instructions would include how to measure each of the amounts for mixing up half as much.
