The bags have a strange smell. It might be because they are packaged in a different country. The squirrels, doves and other wildlife that feed in my backyard refuge wouldn't eat these sunflower seeds! That is saying something if the critters won't eat them. One good thing is they are larger than any other sunflower chips/hearts that I have purchased before. I sent back 4 of 6 bags that I purchased.
