Love these! I am 5'9” and 130 lbs. My inseam is 30 inches. I wear a size 4-6 pants depending on the place I shop. Size 6 in Levi's size 4 at American Eagle. I do not have large hips or butt. I do NOT like my clothes tight! I have 2 large pants and 3 xl pants. Both sizes look good on me. I live in these pants. I wear them to the gym, around the house, and even to church. The front and back pockets make them look like actual pants. The top you pair them with can totally change them from gym clothes to dress pants. The knees do not pull out and show knee stretch marks . Someone who doesn't mind snug fitting pants might wear a medium but I doubt it unless you want the pants to look like you poured yourself into them. However, some people like that look. I don't think these are pants for someone with big hips and large butt. The pants have a slimming effect that flattens a little below the waist, but they are not constructed with a purpose of “holding you in” and won't pass as a dress pants if they are too tight. They are a light weight fabric, but I have worn them when it was 80-30 degrees outside. They wash well and don't loose color. I put the xl pants in the dryer and hang the large to air dry. These are really great pants.

Sizing is true to what I normally wear and so comfortable and light weight yet very warm when I went outside in the snow. Not hot at all indoors. A must try pant. The waist band stays put no rolling up or falling off if you have things in the front or back pockets.
