"The Graduate" is a landmark film from the 1960's that ushered in an incredible era of American cinema that changed the way movies looked and felt. While it may seem a little dated today (though it's humor and themes remain fresh), it's impact was nothing short of amazing at the time.
From the acting (a perfect cast), the unique editing and of course the stellar soundtrack by Simon and Garfunkle, this is truly one of the best films from that decade and is truly one of the must owns for any serious film collection.
It's funny, it's sad and there's a timeless vibe of "being concerned about one's future", which is why "The Graduate", despite it's being rooted firmly in the late 1960's, still resonates with young adults today (and probably well into the future).
The Blu-Ray disc is simply stunning. This film has never, ever looked this good (and trust me - I've owned the original VHS copy, the re-released VHS copy and the DVD edition so I know). The soundtrack sounds crystal clear and the picture is near perfect. While there is the expected grain here and there (keep in mind that the movie is over 40 years old), you will probably never see a better edition. It seriously blew me away.
This Blu-Ray also comes with a DVD version which contains tons of extras (which I wish they would have transferred over to high-def on the Blu-Ray disc - but it is welcome regardless), and the price can't be beat! I think I paid more for my VHS copy than I did this disc! (Too bad all Blu-Ray wasn't this affordable, they'd put DVD out of commission once and for all).
I highly recommend this product!
Enjoy.
