Goldenrod 415 Fence Stretcher Splicer

This will be my second Goldenrod 415 with a helping hand. I left the first one on a job in progress, that I was helping someone and forgot to go get it. When I needed it no one knew what happened to it. I had to borrow a simple stretcher... I really missed the third hand!!! I would have no other kind of stretcher!! It is still a well built tool, except.... The only reason for 4 is that the stretcher is a bit of a pain to brake in. My first one was sort of the same as this one, only this one was so tight with dried paint that I had to use a hammer to loosen it up. I would still buy another one if I lost this one!!!

The Goldenrod wire stretcher works just fine.....but. I thought the extra stationary wire hook would be handy but the 3rd wire hook, more often than not, is just really in the way of normal functions! When performing routine wire splicing, or taking up slack in the wire and similar chores you don't need the extra wire hook and for the few times when it is useful you are better off improvising. Besides being in the way the extra hook also adds more unnecessary weight to the stretcher. I wish I would have bought an original Goldenrod with one stationary wire hook and one traveling wire hook. I will mention the new style rolled handle is much nicer than the old style handle and is a lot more comfortable on the hands.
