Effective and reliable when installed correctly

This is an outstanding ERV--the second I have owned (other was a Trane ERV in another house). The HVAC specialist who works with my builder chose the Broan B130E65RS and its touch-screen control panel for my new construction house completed in September 2021. When installed with the T1 fully ducted configuration, this ERV is ultra-reliable and effective for fresh air circulation and temperature exchange. The installation manual needs to state clearly that the T1 ducting configuration is the only good choice for optimal ERV function. My device was originally installed with the T4 configuration that connects the ERV to the furnace. The T4 configuration is quicker and easier to install, but costs more in the long run and causes more wear and tear on the HVAC system because the furnace fan must run continuously for the T4-connected ERV to function correctly. Even with the furnace fan running continuously, my T4 system was never correctly balanced, and I had repeated wall connection errors at the control panel. Then the ERV spontaneously shut off several times, so it was clear the T4 plan wouldn't work. The HVAC specialist converted to a fully ducted (T1) system in which the ERV ducting is independent from the furnace ducting. Ever since then, the ERV has run like clockwork without wall connection errors and without the need for the furnace fan. I'm enjoying the excellent quality and stability of this device and notice the cleaner air in the house.
