Rav Menachem Mendel Schneerson (April 5, 1902 - June 12, 1994), better known as the Lubavitcher Rebbe, or simply The Rebbe, was the seventh and last Rebbe of Chabad Lubavitch. The Rebbe was one of the most phenomenal and influential Jewish leaders in modern times. To hundreds of thousands of followers and millions of sympathizers and admirers around the world, he was - and still is, despite his passing - "The Rebbe," undoubtedly, the one individual more than any other singularly responsible for stirring the conscience and spiritual awakening of world Jewry.

The Rebbe's mission in life was to arouse every Jewish soul to reach its maximum potential in serving the Creator. In one of the rare letters in which the Rebbe refers to himself, he writes, "My interest is to be a shaliach, to arouse every single individual to fulfill his soul and inner role, in the present and in the future."
