Paper Mario: The Origami King, Nintendo Switch, [Physical Edition]

What an absolute gem! Paper Mario: The Origami King is one of the best Mario adventures I've played on Switch. The graphics are breathtaking – that paper-folded world pops with vibrant colors, clever origami designs, and stunning attention to detail everywhere you look. The story is hilarious and surprisingly emotional, with Olivia as the perfect sidekick stealing every scene. Mario's humor shines through in the witty dialogue and quirky characters – I laughed out loud constantly! The battle system is a genius twist: ring-based puzzles make every fight strategic and fun, like solving mini-challenges mid-combat. It keeps things fresh and rewarding, especially against those epic, unique bosses (rubber bands and staplers? Genius!). Exploration is endless – hidden toads, collectibles, secret areas, and sailing the seas had me hooked for 40 hours. The music is catchy and immersive too! Play is smooth and addictive, perfect for portable sessions. The physical edition came in great condition with awesome box art – a must-have for collectors now that they're harder to find. Tip: Rescue all the toads early for upgrades and shop access – makes battles a breeze! If you love Mario RPGs with puzzles and laughs, this is a 10/10. Highly recommend!

My wive loves the retro references and the style closer to the original Paper Mario. She loves the exploration. The battles are very different and you have to match up patterns and create an attack path. This frustrated her to death at first, not being math or process oriented but she is picking it up and is starting to like the battles more. We are not done yet but so far it is great! It can be frustrating when the attacks leave you with little or no complete attack options. But I enjoy the patterns and planning out Mario's path for the attack. We recommend it for families of all ages. The trick is to read the scroll out load. To hear the way they say things that way is great! But it is very much cut scenes and scrolls like the original.
