GE Appliances Energy Star 27.7 cu Ft. Freestanding French-Door Refrigerator 385 lb

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We needed to replace a refrigerator that had just stopped working. We visited several places and looked at many different brands and models. While size and features were important, availability and delivery speed were also must haves. We settled on this GE model. We wanted to stay at 25 cu. ft. or larger. This is a great size at 27.7 cu. ft. We definitely wanted the icemaker and water dispenser with both available on the outside without needing to open doors. This model has a door mounted icemaker which I prefer. The amount of ice it makes is adequate for our needs, and it does not take up excessive internal space. The shelves are fully adjustable for height. This is important as we sometime need to put in a very large (tall) pot. A lot of refrigerators have shelves at fixed heights that are removable but not adjustable. Setting the temperatures and turning on the ice maker are really simple and easy to do from the front panel. There selections for cubed and crushed ice as well. The French door configuration works well. There is a really neat self folding piece mounted on the left side door that allows the center seam of the doors to seal on. The center seal on the French doors was always a problem on our previous fridge because external air could seep in and we could never adjust the doors for a perfect seal. The sale price was really great and since this was energy star compliant means the unit is power efficient and there was a rebate available to use as well! Very happy and satisfied with this purchase. The unit was delivered and installed within 2 days which was a great blessing for us. Thank you very much Lowes!

Overall I really like this refrigerator. The storage capacity is great, the shelf configuration is flexible, the French doors allow easy access, and I love that the freezer drawer has two levels. It's also fairly energy efficient. The only downside is that during summer's hottest days, over 100 F where I'm at, the ice maker cannot keep up with demand and I run out at the dispenser. It doesn't have an additional ice maker in the freezer drawer, so when I'm out, I'm out. In every other respect it's great.
