Introducing the 3rd all original music CD, quot;Funkswayquot; Sage has spent the last 18 months working on this new CD concept bringing a blend of quot;music, harmony, syncopation and soulquot; is Funksway. It is evident that Sage has had many influences that reflect on these tracks from solid rhythm section & horn driven 'east bay grease' funk, some soulful James Brown licks, and even a little Stevie Wonder energy. During the music composition and recording, the songs were beginning to really take shape with the Sage bandmembers performances, and these tracks also drew attention. This brought a few other awesome quot;friends of Strokelandquot; musicians to add their stylings to this project. Making guest musician appearances on some of the tracks are; Tom Politzer (sax - Tower of Power), Adolfo Acosta (trumpet - Tower of Power), Bruce Conte (guitar - Tower of Power), Mic Gillette (trumpet & trombone - formerly with Tower of Power) and another great contributor was Andy Winer (trumpet & flugelhorn), from the American Idol band. quot;Knock You Outquot; brings a feeling the soulful rhythmic quot;sparingquot; between the band and the audience. quot;Antsquot; has an infectious beat that when you hear it, you can't help but get up and dance. quot;Funkswayquot;, the title track - blending an incredible funky rhythm section with blasting horns, blended with our soulful philosophy vocals. Funksway aligns all these musical elements to bring the maximum funk to life. ... a quote from Stephen 'Doc' Kupka, Tower of Power 'When Tower of Power started out, most of our gigs were in San Jose. Sage represents the very best of EastBay and SouthBay music. They follow closely in the footsteps of Tower of Power and are a great band -- and on top of that, they happen to be very nice guys.'
