Brinks BC4010 Hydraulic Door Closer, Steel, Black

One of the easiest door closures I've installed. All hardware needed for multiple mounting options. Templates for left handed and right handed doors made it even easier. Pretty much anyone can do it. The best part is the kids can't leave the back door open anymore.

Brinks Residential Door Closer Although this is considered a residential door closer, make no mistake about it, this a very serious door closer. It is not one of the cheap light duty ones that are hanging on an endcap at your favorite home supply store. It is packaged extremely well and would withstand dropping from a two-story building. As a matter of fact, that is exactly what happened during the hanging of the door. Other than one corner of the cardboard box containing the closer unit being crushed, the unit itself was in 100% perfect shape. Although I think this closer was a little over kill for the light duty door I was putting it on, it works perfectly. I am certain this closer will outlive me. The instructions were initially a bit intimidating, but once you get into the installation it is a piece of cake. It even includes templates for the purpose of insuring proper installation. There are instructions and templates for both a left-hand and right-hand installation. There are a lot of adjustments available to make a precise fit. There is a simple single screw to adjust the speed of the door closing. I found that predrilling the holes with a pilot bit helped to ensure the wood would not split and the proper positioning of the assembly. Another hint to make installation a little easier is to use double-back tape to hold the assembly in the position as you assure that the unit is properly position. There is no doubt in my mind that you will be satisfied at the performance of the Brinks BC4010 Residential Door Closer. It sure is nice not to hear the door slam shut and be confident that the door is closed.
