[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this APC Smart-UPS X 3kVA about eight months ago for my small business server setup, and it has been absolutely worth every penny. The installation was straightforward - I love that it can work both as a tower and rack-mount unit, which gave me flexibility as my setup evolved. During three separate power outages this year, including one that lasted over 30 minutes, this UPS kept all my critical equipment running smoothly without a hiccup. The network management features are fantastic - I get email alerts about power events and can monitor everything remotely through the web interface, which has saved me several trips to the office during off-hours. The battery runtime is impressive, easily giving me 20+ minutes with my full server load, and the power conditioning has noticeably reduced random equipment glitches I used to experience. Yes, it's an investment, but when you consider the cost of data loss or extended downtime, this UPS has already paid for itself. Highly recommended for anyone serious about protecting their equipment!

SHORT DEPTH is a good thing!
Don't forget about this one! It is one of a select few models that APC offers which is over 7" less deep than most of the conventional models (19" vs. ~ 26.25"). This makes it ideal for mounting in precarious 2 post racks. It also works well in racks that contain only switches and routers that are of a similar short depth. A great problem solver!

Great UPS +1!
All of the goodness of the SMX2200HV (including SHORT DEPTH), plus the addition of the almost mandatory, 2nd generation Network Management Card! You know you're gonna' want it, so just go ahead order it pre-installed!
