I almost returned the item when we received it, but I'm glad that I didn't. We've had it for about a month now, use it daily, and it shows no signs of deteriorating. It's easy to use and holds the wood in place when moving it from point A to point B. The reason we almost returned it is because the description states it doesn't have a spring, yet there's a spring towards the bottom of the pole, where the grabbers are. I've included a picture to show this. We were concerned that the spring would melt in the fire, but after a month of daily use, I can confirm that's not the case. We use it for our outdoor homemade fire pit and also for the fireplace inside our house. The grabbers have what looks like hooks to prevent the wood from sliding around. Instead of handles, it has a lever that opens and closes the grabbers. The lever is easy to move, and I assume it would be user-friendly for someone with arthritis since it doesn't have an unnecessarily strong resistance. We're pleased with this purchase and will consider this seller for future similar needs.
