Good buy, good stuff, good for raised beds.

Product is basically composted shredded tree trash and other bio mass and a 5-5-3 fertilizer boost. It is acidic so good as is for plants liking acid soil. Otherwise for veg or general use I add a fast acting lime. I buy that in 20 lb bags and add as need to sweeten soil for zukes and other calcium 'hogs.' (Trick: At first sign of cal. 'starvation' when blossom ends of baby zukes turn yellow/brown or bloom wilts 'funny' pour a handful of the cal. pellets into 2 gal watering can and fill at high pressure with hose inside to create plenty of swirl to 'melt' the pellets, and pour milky solution around base of zuke plant to saturate roots.) This product also can be used containers; add sand or perlite to soil first to aid drainage (I just mix in cont. before plant). You won't need more than a 1/2 cup of pellet fertilizer (I like WM Organic Veg with bact. wilt controls) per 3-5 gal. container for season, since comes with added fert. Note the soil has fairly big 'shreds' and tends to compact as settles so may 'fall' a couple of inches over season in container, but I've not had any complaints from flowers or tomatoes so far. FYI the all purpose companion plant is marigolds; I buy WM six packs and add one at transplant to baby sit my container starts. Marigolds are organic pest control; source of industrial pyrethrin fyi, and last most of season.

I use this Soil in my gardens for a couple of seasons and it is very nice to work with and the plants seem to enjoy it also. I had been to the store here in Woodland Wa and was unable to find any Expert Garden Soil in the outdoors area so thought to order online hoping to pick up at the store and was happily. surprised at the prompt delivery.

Best garden soil price at Walmart

Ratiing question for something which we cannot or should not ingest or wear seems silly to rate ground soil. It also takes months to determine if selected vegetation will or can prosper using certain brand ground soil. However, for the super bargain price, any fresh finely ground soil will be a huge improvement over the grind up material leftovers most middle class suburban tract home developers toss around each residential property to pass for usable soil. Residential property developers are like dogs who never eat or live where they do their "toilet". Thus, I welcome Walmart's low prices for garden and potting soil. No other retail or nursery source can beat it's bargain prices.
