This compact ceiling fan is a great buy. I just installed it in a bedroom. It took me about an hour because I used it to replace an existing ceiling fan with lights. My older fan is, literally, more than twice the size and weight of this one. However, this one has more features and is much cooler. The ceiling fan attaches easily to a standard electric junction box. However, if you are installing it in a location without a junction box, you can attach it directly to a concrete ceiling or other surface, as long as you have wood or some other strong base to screw it into. Keep in mind, that it's best to install this ceiling fan where you have an existing ceiling fan with lights. I learned this the hard way. I bought the fan a month ago and tried to install it in a dining room shortly thereafter; however, the dining room did not previously have a ceiling fan with lights. I took down the existing light fixture and started to connect the ceiling fan with lights. However, I realized a difference in the wiring of the ceiling fan with lights as contrasted with the wiring in the dining room ceiling. My dining room wiring had the standard two wires for connecting electricity, plus a connection for a ground wire. I am not an electrician, so I called one to ask about the neutral wire. He informed me that you must have a neutral wire to connect the ceiling fan with lights. Not wanting to go beyond my level of expertise and make a mistake with electricity, I put my old light fixture back in the dining room ceiling and considered my options. I liked this fan with lights, so I decided to put it in a bedroom that already had a ceiling fan with lights. Today, I had some spare time, so I took down the ceiling fan with lights in the bedroom. Installation was quick and straightforward because I connected the new ceiling fan with lights exactly the same way the previous one was connected. There already was a neutral wire. If you're not an electrician, I highly recommend only using this ceiling fan with lights in a room where you previously had a fan with lights. Once it was installed, I put some batteries in the included remote and tried out the fan. It works great. You can really tell the difference in the fan speeds. There are six different speeds. And you can change the lighting from daylight to soft white. I haven't tried the phone app yet, but so far, so good. Make sure you have two AAA batteries. They're needed for the remote, but not included in the shipping box. I made a video, but this review didn't have an option to upload a video. However, the pictures I have shared should give you an idea of the change in colors. I should add that the fan picks up the air from the AC vent and distributes it around the room. Great buy for a reasonable price.
