Plan for 6-8 hours of assembly, and you will need a second person. Very functional, I added two handles to pull down the bed, as the access on the sides seemed hazardous for kids.

If you have the option to pay for assembly, do it! My husband is very handy and this bed has been a challenge to assemble. The written directions are often incorrect and conflict with the video instructions. Plan for 2 solid days to assemble on your own.
