The way it works is it keeps the fever blister from spreading to healthy uninfected skin. The blister won't grow if you put it on often and actually rub it in. The minute you feel an itch on your skin, just put it on and keep using it for a few days to avoid a blister.

I like this tube better than the pump container because I feel like I can get the most product out of it. The product itself is SO helpful when a blister is about to pop up/has popped up. I've only been lucky enough to catch it before it's emerged once, but the very last time I applied the product as soon as it did and the blister began to get smaller within only 3 days instead of my normal 5-7 days.
