OVERVIEW

The Michelin Pilot Super Sport (OE) tire is a summer max performance tire manufactured for passenger vehicles. The model is marked with a star as it is the original equipment tire for select vehicles.

This summer tire offers excellent dry and wet weather traction and grips the road well in these conditions. However, it will not perform well in winter weather. The circumferential and smaller lateral grooves in the tread pattern eliminate water from beneath the tire and prevent hydroplaning.

Michelin used its data from motorsport racing, particularly from Le Mans, during the manufacture of this tire, which enhanced its performing ability. Its Bi-Compound tread compound, which employs two compound types across the tire's tread for divided dry and wet performance, boosts the tire's performing ability and dry and wet weather traction. The tire's lowered overall weight also improves its performance and makes its handling easier for the driver, while the Bi-Compound also enables a shortened braking distance.

The Pilot Super Sport (OE)'s structure is reinforced with the Twaron Belt package, which reduces the possibility of punctures and provides high speed durability. This special structure, along also slows down the tread's wear rate, while the Variable Contact Patch 2.0 Technology ensures even wear throughout the tire, extending its life in the process.

Manufacturers recommend changing tires every 10 years. As long as tires are properly stored before they are sold, the year of their manufacture will not shorten their service life.
