Toss-up: Which Side Faces In; Which Side Faces Out

One caveat, dear consumers: don't expect anything on the packaging, let alone the product, to show or explain which side faces in or out: the white side or the black side. This is a newer HEPA replacement for my once 'textured' honeycomb-like black both sides previous HEPA filter. This is like...the scratchy white side of a two-sided sponge; only I don't know which way/side to insert into my 2-decade-old canister vac.
