Dance Off the Inches: Belly Dance (DVD)

I bought this workout DVD on a whim while shopping a few weeks ago. I rarely do this since I like to peruse video clips on Youtube before buying, just to make sure it's something I would enjoy and/or get some benefit from. I've been doing Zumba with my Wii player for 3 years & needed a change of pace. This DVD is really fun & makes you sweat! I love the dance steps & arm movements which aren't very hard to learn. The step guide tutorial is really helpful to learn the steps before getting into the actual workout. This is not a Belly Dance instructional, it's an exercise video with dance steps that have both Belly Dance & Bollywood "inspired" movements. If you go to Youtube to watch the clips, you'll see the dancers wearing sneakers. Both Belly Dance & Bollywood are performed barefoot. As a point of reference, all of the "Dance Off The Inches" videos in the series are "exercise/fitness" DVD's with influences from various dance genres. I love this video! It's fun, makes you sweat & your muscles will be feeling it the next day! It also has a lot of movements targeting the ab/core section. Not including the step guide, this video is 45 minutes in length which include: a warm-up, 3 separate dance routines, & a cool down. Kili Marti is an excellent instructor, she gives very clear verbal & physical cues both before & during the workout. I recommend it.

The instructor goes through the dances really quickly and doesn't really stop to explain things and how to do the dances correctly. overall, it felt like a work out video and I didn't really feel like I learned to belly dance. But I kind of expected that I guess. Not the best but not the worst.
