Buyer beware

I ordered this 256GB SD online from Walmart. When the product arrived, I formatted it and used it in my dashcam. After a day of use, I checked the footage and found that only 32GB of my files remained while the other 224GB of files had been corrupted. After looking around online trying to solve the issue, I found that this was a symptom of a fake SD card. The SD card I was sent was only 32GB, but was packaged and sold as a 256GB device. The card and box it came in was labeled 256GB, but the internals of the card was only 32GB. I was able to return the product and get a full refund. Customer service marked the product as "Damaged". Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be ordering anymore tech-related products online through Walmart.

Received a fake product

I looked for this product at many stores in my town and found the best way to get it would be to order it online through Walmart. I thought it would be the easiest and most legitimate method. When the product arrived, I formatted it and used it in my dashcam. After a day of use, I checked the footage and found that only 32GB of my files remained while the other 224GB of files had been corrupted. After looking around online trying to solve the issue, I found that this was a symptom of a fake SD card which the manufacture hacks the internals of to trick your devices into reading it as 256GB when it's actually a much cheaper 32GB SD card. This was very surprising to me as I assumed Walmart would use reputable sources, but that was not the case in this instance. The card and box it came in was labeled 256GB, but the internals of the card was only 32GB. I was able to return the product and get a full refund. Customer service marked the product as "Damaged". Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be ordering anymore tech related products online through Walmart.
