I'm very glad they're metal as for some reason I thought some of the reviews indicated that these were plastic. The end caps are plastic. These should hold up to the Arizona sun.

perfect solution for larger or odd sized windows

these are perfect, i have a very large window and a couple smaller ones, the ability to selsct the size worked perfectly. i have never had rods like this and was sceptical at first. it comes in peices that screw together, but this makes them much more versitile size wise and much more sturdy than the traditional model rods. love these, they are clean in appearance and i dont worry about the rods shifting when my cat plays with the curtains which happened more than once with the old style telescoping rods. there is one peice that telescopes for perfect sizing, but it is at the end not in the middle and is installed permanently with a twist and lock feature. just perfect.
