Yamaha YFL-462H Sterling Silver Flute with B Footjoint

Every aspect of the Yamaha YFL-462H flute's design is intended to bring the highest levels of comfort, playability, sound, and precision for flutists ready to step up their game.

The flute's headjoint, lip plate, body, and foot joint are all made from solid sterling silver for improved tone. New refinements include pointed key arms contributing to elegant visual appeal, and a completely revised key parts manufacturing process that significantly enhances overall precision. The headjoint is Yamaha's CY model, designed for a sound with rich resonance and a truly graceful tone. It has comfortable resistance and feel, as well as a double flare design with an undercut embouchure hole on the lip plate, giving an even, quick response, excellent center in the mid to high ranges, and encouraging optimal breath utilization.

The keys are open-holed, also known as French or Ring style. This allows players to have more subtle control of their tone. The YFL-462H does come with key plugs if a player prefers to close some or all of the rings. This model flute also features an offset G key, a preferred build style by many players who find it easier and more comfortable than the alternative inline G found on some other models. A#, F# and other non-fingered keys feature pointed key arms. This beautiful key design is inspired by traditional European style. The B footjoint has an extra key enabling the player to play 1/2 step lower than the lowest note of the C foot, while also enabling a stronger sound with improved projection. The toneholes are drawn and curled upwards from the body of the flute, also broadening its sound.

Yamaha's YFL-462H is also designed to help reduce the amount of technical work needed on the instrument. The unique screw resistance inserts allow smooth adjustments while preventing gradual loosening of the screws. For easier access for technicians, the screw positioning has been changed.
