this is the second crayola light board we have owned. my kids love it. I wish it was rechargeable, however once you put batteries in they do last a long time if you shut it off when it isn't in use. once it is on, on the back you press the button on the front to turn it into various light modes: solid, flashing, fade. it is only a white light. it comes with markers which you color on the board with. they light up when the light is on. it erases with a little water and a towel or for deep cleaning a spritz of window cleaner. i wish it came with its own towel to clean it or a special eraser that the child can use. however, it isn't a big deal. the markers will dry out very fast if you have a child that doesn't put lids on. otherwise the markers put out very good color. you can also purchase the markers separate if the do dry out. over all I've always been very happy with these. my kids love to draw on it. its a nice change going from paper to this, especially because it reduces paper waste because it is reusable. currently all of my children love it they are ages 2,5, and 8. I'd say around 8 is probably when they loose interest, but it depends on the child.
