Her purple "hair" has vent holes in it and the entire purple part pops off (like a Lego) so she can be filled. This did not come with instructions so here's how I used it: Did not get the hard bits that are stuck but it did eliminate the "crud". Admittedly, this is the first time I have ever cleaned my microwave so I am hoping that, once I clean the hard bits out and start using this regularly, there might BE no more hard bits created. Fill with Vinegar up to the Vinegar line then fill the rest with water. I set my microwave cook time to 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, I wiped the inside of the microwave. She's very hot after 10 minutes, except for her arms, so I use the arms to get her out of the microwave. She's empty after 10 minutes as well. I can see how just using a random container with vinegar and water might do the same thing but this is just so much fun! I'm very happy with my purchase and can see myself cleaning my microwave more often now.
