I was glad Walmart sells these. It's one of those things I've wanted since I was a kid and what with one thing or another I never had one until now. Definitely a bit of an impulse buy. Seems solid, though. Heavier than I'd expected for its size and the handle is larger than I thought as well. This bodes well for its durability. The edge can be sharpened, it comes with a basic but not sharp edge from the factory. Worth it.

extremely great tool

I got ahold of an original in the military & loved it & these are exactly like the originals. Just got this & have used it & put it thru a bunch of tests just to check it out & These shovels are great. At $15.15 a piece I already orded more for spares & to give to my son in law. As a shovel their great & as a axe, machette or as a throwing shovel these are as the originals these are great. Get a couple you'll love them

Great shovel for camping or hiking/backpacking.

Just as I expected from Cold Steel...... Awesome! Heavy duty and yet light weight. All edges come roughfully sharpened (needs a little touch up on the edges) and it's ready for digging, chopping, slashing, batoning or throwing. It can be used for an axe, machete or bushcrafting. Very well made and sturdy. Handle is a little slippery so add some tape or paracord. And, it can be used without the wooden handle too. Remember to oil the exposed metal to keep from rusting. Perfect tool for the outdoors!
