Useful controllable options

This UPS has worked well for a year now including a few power outages and several glitches. I liked the ability to select the sensitivity ranges. I also especially liked that the lighting that could be controlled to select a color that is agreeable and to provide light on the sockets in the back.

Impressive!

I am impressed! This thing arrived in packaging that was made to protect during shipping. Weight is 25 lbs and approximately 16” deep by 11” tall and 4” wide. The unit is warranted for 3 years. The UPS has a full complement of surge protected and battery backed-up outlets. There are 6 battery backed up surge outlets and 4 surge only outlets. Also, available are an Ethernet in and out port, and a cable in and out port. Software monitoring of the unit is done with Powerchute Personal Edition via USB connection to your computer/gaming system. There are plenty of connections for my system of gaming computer, 3 - 27” screens and sound system. Even has enough room for a brick or two used for driving your router, keyboards, mice, and gaming controls. There are 3 USB ports on the front that can be used for charging phones, etc. Instructions for connecting equipment were straightforward and understandable. The diagrams used in the instructions could be bigger in order to show details more clearly. Setup started with connecting the battery and charging it for about 16 hours. The unit has a clear, understandable status panel on the front and LED's on the rear to provide enough light for making connections (usually done under a desk in the dark). Panel light on front and back can be changed to any of 12 colors. I can say that the lighted panel is very bright. It would be nice if there was a dimmer to dial it back. The UPS sensitivity to voltage fluctuations can be set to different levels depending on the user's experience with incoming power and the sensitivity of the protected equipment. Once the UPS was fully charged I was able to set it up and use my system. I connected my entire system to the unit using nine of the outlets in the process. I live in an area where frequent power outages are experienced. We've had enough outages that I have a whole-house generator that kicks in automatically. The downtime between power out and generator on is about 3-5 minutes. The UPS was able to handle demand without any issues. I noticed no surge issues when the generator kicked in, nor when grid power came back on. During the testing I had no failures or unexplained issues. I would definitely recommend the Pro Gaming UPS.

A Great Compact UPS for Gamers

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Product: Gaming Back-UPS Pure Sinewave 1500VA Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), Model BGM1500(B) The product arrived extraordinarily well packed. Unpacking and setup was simple and easy. On the rear, the unit features five battery-backed outlets, and five surge suppressed outlets. There are also connections for ethernet pass-through surge suppression, coaxial pass-through surge suppression, a connection (with supplied cable) to optionally control the unit with APC Powerchute software on a PC, an optional-use grounding terminal, a building wiring fault indicator, and a circuit breaker reset button. On the front of the unit are three handy USB-3 power ports, one of which is the newer USB-C style. These ports are fully battery backed, and provide at total of 15W of power. Also on the front is an LCD display with three physical control buttons. The LCD panel can be configured to display multiple different modes of operation. As usual for APC products, the unit is shipped with the battery properly disconnected. Per the user manual instruction, connecting the battery is a straight forward process. Operation is pretty much set-and-forget. I did not connect the unit to a PC with the APC Powerchute software. Something unique with this UPS, perhaps in the spirit of the gaming community for which this UPS is designed for, is a unique colored light ring around the display panel. The colors of the light ring can be adjusted among many choices. The are similar colored lights in the back that might be particularly useful in providing illumination at the rear of the unit when connecting or disconnecting plugs. All of the lights can be turned off in the LCD control panel, which I have done as I don't prefer such lighting. However, one potential issue is that the brightly illuminated "APC" display on top of the unit behind the control panel that cannot be changed in color or turned of. In a dark environment it can be distracting. Covering it with a small piece of black tape resolves that issue. But it would be better if it was controllable. This unit is basically similar to other APC Uninterruptible Power Supplies in its capacity class. The included user manual is clear and concise. The main standout is the enclosure styling and lighting features. And for it's capacity, it has a relatively small footprint. It will take up hardly any real estate where space is limited. Users should use caution, as it's heavier than it looks, containing a double-unit battery assembly. Overall I would recommend this product.
