Champion 90720 7 Ton Compact Portable Log Splitter

After years of splitting by hand I finally decided to invest in a splitter. Didn't want to break the bank but wanted something that would be strong enough to get through Red Oak and White Oak. After watching a bunch of reviews on YouTube I decided to buy it. Assembly was pretty straightforward and it wasn't hard to get the splitter up and running. I immediately started feeding it the knottiest pieces that I was never able to split by hand. This little machine ripped through it all. Works well in cold temperatures too.

We needed a log splitter to handle some really big pieces of split wood that we get delivered each year. In the past some pieces were so big I couldn't split them by hand or there were so many knots we couldn't use the piece, not to mention the effort of hand splitting a third of the cord This year we bought the 7 ton splitter and it handled everything, and handled it easy. We were not disappointed! This splitter cuts right through even the 'knarliest' pieces of wood and it did the same thing for the really large pieces of wood. We ran it for two and a half hours with no hitches, it performed great the whole time and there was still gas in the tank when we ended. The engine is smooth and strong and the splitter is easy to use. The automatic return is great. It's clear the 7 ton machine could handle much more in terms of log size. We're homeowners and it's perfect for us. The assembly was pretty straightforward. The suction hose was tough to get on (put some hydraulic fluid on the inlet and outlet tubes and then just muscle it on) but otherwise the instructions were quite good and all the parts fit nicely. It's a rugged machine but easy to move around. When we were done it was easy to clean up and there were no leaks or drips anywhere. All in all this splitter is terrific value for the money.
