The package includes: 1 x 4-step cat stair shelf main body, 3 x mounting brackets, 6 x screws, 6 x wall anchors, and 1 x small wrench (if applicable). Prepare additional tools: a drill, a level, a measuring tape, and a pencil. 1. Determine Installation Position & Mark Holes Use a measuring tape to measure and confirm the desired installation height on the wall (recommended height: 12–18 inches above the ground for easy cat access). Place the stair shelf main body against the wall, adjust to the desired left or right reversible orientation, and use a level to ensure it is horizontally aligned. Mark the positions of the 3 mounting holes on the wall with a pencil through the pre-drilled holes on the stair shelf’s backplate. 2. Drill Pilot Holes & Install Wall Anchors Select a drill bit matching the size of the included wall anchors. Drill pilot holes at the marked positions on the wall. If installing on drywall, gently tap the wall anchors into the pilot holes until they are flush with the wall surface. If installing directly on wood studs, skip the wall anchor step as they are not required. 3. Fix the Stair Shelf to the Wall Align the pre-drilled holes on the stair shelf’s backplate with the wall anchors (or wood studs). Insert the screws into the holes and use a screwdriver or the included wrench to tighten them clockwise. Ensure each screw is fully tightened and the stair shelf is firmly attached to the wall without any wobbling. Double-check the horizontal alignment with the level again to avoid tilting. 4. Final Safety Check & Guide Cat Use After installation, gently shake the stair shelf to test its stability; it should not move or loosen. Confirm that the sisal rope on the steps is tightly wrapped and free of loose ends. Place a small cat toy or treat on the steps to guide your cat to explore and use the stair shelf. Website photos and description is accurate. It looks really good and the wood is strong. Only problem, for me, mounting screws are thin as well as anchors, I used thicker screws and anchors. Assembly tips: carefully look at pictures of the screw placement in the ladders, also the direction of the cuts, very important, and lay out design before screwing in steps, and watch the rope knots should be on the bottom. It is worth the purchase and supports 9 lb cats.
