The only thing I dont like is the fact that you can't open the top of the trap to bait it. You have to use something almost a foot long to reach in and bait it. However, it works effectively. I knew I had a rat in a shed, put the trap out one afternoon and checked it the next. I had my rat. I removed the rat and put the trap back without even having to re-bait. Two days later, I caught a mouse.

It works

Rats are smart. Ours didn't trip snap traps and didn't go into smaller, tunnel-type traps. But between the more open design of the Zapper and encouragement (leaving bits of food outside the unarmed trap for a night, then food leading into the armed trap the next), it got zapped.

Excellent Traps

These work great if place in rodent high traffic areas and are cleaned after each kill to eliminate any urine that might short out the unit. I have used these for many years and this order was for my tenants who were experiencing a rat problem because they leave the back door of the house open for their small dog. After two weeks and several kills the tenants are reporting no more rat problem. Many years ago I trapped a small skunk in one of these traps and it did not even have time to let out a stink. Great traps and last for dozens of kills as long as you wipe them out with a damp paper towel of scrub with a toothbrush if they are dirty (after removing the batteries of course). You do not have to even use bait in these if they are set in the right place, but if you do, use dry dog food.
