This dura-mat is touted as the most rugged mat on the market and deservedly so. I have an RV on a permanent site off of one of the lake Erie tributaries that is used primarily as a fishing camp. We fish for steelhead which is a cold water species, so we fish from fall through winter and into spring. If you have been in the northern most regions of Pennsylvania you know how cold, wet or snowy it can be. I have used many types of mats, carpets and decking at our camp but all have had their drawbacks. Carpeting needs a lot of room to roll up and store, foam mats absorb too much water, rubber mats are far too slippery, etc. I recently received this dura mat by Carefree and was excited to see how it would work for me. The first thing I noticed and liked very much is that it comes with it's own storage bag. The mat is also very easy to fold and get back into the storage bag ( folding it lengthwise first as it was when you unfolded it makes this process a breeze). The next thing I noticed and also liked is the way the mat is woven. I do not know exactly what the fabric is other than some type of bonded vinyl, but the weave is perfect for allowing water and small particles to pass through. I am using this mat on my raised deck. The mat matches my Carefree awning perfectly and to my surprise made sweeping my deck off much more easy to do. My grandson was fooling around in the stream and came up on the deck with his muddy shoes within hours of having the mat in place. After offering some gentle Grandfatherly type advice that some may construe as threats, I grabbed the hose and was really surprised at how easy it rinsed clean. What surprised me even more and is now my favorite aspect of this mat is that while wet it was not slippery at all. Not only was the may not slippery it actually wicked the water away very fast and was dry in no time at all. This is a major plus for me since a lot of mud, snow and water will be tracked on this mat during the fishing season. This mat has reinforced grommets on all for corners so that it can be staked down. An interesting thing I noticed about this mat is that it almost feels rubbery like a skid resistant coating yet I was able to slide a very heavy storage box and a wooden bench on it without the mat bunching or pulling. The material of this mat is certainly thick enough to wick water away yet is still thin enough to fold and store far better than anything I have previously used. I am extremely happy with this mat mainly for the reasons that I have mentioned and can not wait until fishing season where I feel this mat will really show it's value in safety, cleanliness and convenience. I would absolutely recommend this mat to anyone with an RV or a deck.
