Many useful stitches and solid machine

The manual ward actually good for me. It taught me exactly the times ways and reasons I would and could use all the different stitches. Very useful. Also it gave exact settings to put dials to the right numbers to get stitches to look and work the way I wanted. And the machine does what I want :) I like the solid interface and how you work the thread through the machine. The different attachments actual work nice too.

Definitely heavy duty

I really like this machine for its simplicity and heavy duty capabilities. I am a novice sewer and use it mostly for home decor (tea towels, oven mitts, pillows etc). I used it for hemming jeans and it worked great with a little help across the double seams. I'm still trying to control the speed. It seems to run really fast when starting out.

Great machine, wish stitch selection was digital

I'm not a serious sewist, but I did have 3 projects that I needed to do for which a heavy duty machine was needed. So far the ST531HD is performing very well. It is easy to use and sees smoothly. I do wish that it had a digital rather than manual stitch selection. My current project involves making large manual buttonholes and with the manual stitch length and width dials, it is hard to get perfect uniformity. This is the reason for 4 rather than 5 stars.
