OK, I bought this used. despite what people said about it here. I have a blade coffee grinder so I was always curious what benefits a burr grinder would provide. Pros * it is far better than my blade grinder for chopping coffee beans, the consistency is far superior. Because of that, there is less coffee needed to brew a pot of coffee so that is a cost savings. * It is hands free, I can set the dial and usually it will happily grind until the approximate amount is ground up. * Because it is hands-free I don't need to take it to another plug to shake as the coffee gets chopped * The safety features prevent accidentally starting the grinder without the container in place. Cons * The safety features can be finicky, the reason this was sold was that the grinder wouldn't start and the blue light would continue to flash. There are two sensors on the unit. one for the plastic base located in the back right side, the second is in the top cover located on the right side as well about the middle. The one I got had a coffee bean jammed in the top part so the top lib would never go deep enough to close the top switch making it appear like it was broken. I took the grey section off (that was fun it is held on by clips all around the top see below) and removed the jammed bean and it worked There will be coffee grounds spilled, its the nature of the beast, but it does its job.
