Just a few pieces goes a long way with these pellets. Not knowing better. I had my grandson pour the pellets into an aluminum pan about 1/4 inch deep. We fired up the Kingsfords charcoal and sit the pan on top of the hot coals. About 5 minutes later, they started to burn and smoke. We pull the top pan off thinking it would help reduce the amount of smoke, but it just continued to grow and grow more smoke. My grandson tried to get the burgers off the grill but came out coughing. I tried to get to the burgers and almost psses out. My youngest son came out and was able to get the pan of pellets out. The smoke was so intense, that the local police department thought my house was on fire. When used properly, they will add a level of smoke flavoring desired. I am definitely going to be using them in my smoker and grill. GREAT PRODUCT.
