Description:
This folding/aspirating syringe is the most commonly used in dentistry. The term breech-loading implies that the cartridge is inserted into the syringe from the side of the barrel of the syringe. The needle is attached to the barrel of the syringe at the needle adaptor. The needle then passes into the barrel, where it penetrates the diaphragm of the local anesthetic cartridge. The needle adaptor (screw hub or convertible tip) is removable and sometimes is discarded inadvertently along with the disposable needle.
