    Ball plastic caps
These things are great for storage! They are NOT for canning. I use them for all sorts of storing. Once I've opened a jar of jam, the ring lid gets replaced with one of these. Dried beans and rice get put in jars and topped with these. No rust, and no more fooling around with a two-piece lid. Q-tips and cotton balls in the medicine cabinet - again, no rust!

    WARNING NOT FOR PROCESSING
Read fine print on bottom of label--NOT for processing. These lits are for dry pack, pickling, freezing, but are NOT for pressure or water bath canning. For some reason Walmart has replaced all proper canning jar lids with this junk. If you can, please harass your local store manager until they stock proper lids again.

Perfect for storage in frig or cupboard

    Verified purchase

These lids are perfect for storing an opened jar of beans (or whatever!) in the refrigerator. I can also use the jars for storing things in the cupboard, like cocoa mix, homemade biscuit mix, and on larger jars for rice and noodles. Love them!

    Plastic lids are great.

I bought these lids last year. Of course they are not for use in the canning process. I use them after we open a canned jar. We remove the metal lids and bands and replace them with the plastic ones. No more drip, no more mess. Now we are able to use the jars for more than just canning too. They are a bit pricey, but well worth it.

    A must for canners

These are a must for people who can there own sauces and condiments (home made ketchup, hot sauce, pickles etc.) keeps canned goods fresh when opened and kept in the refrigerator. I would recommend both the regular and wide mouth lids for your jars. I make my own hot sauces and ketchup's. I use a Sharpe marker and mark the lids with its contents. Sweet Pickles,Bread and butter pickles, Green tomato ketchup, Hot sauce, etc.

    Works perfect

These work really well for mason jars. I store my breast-milk in mason jars in the refrigerator and I wanted a lid that I didn't have more pieces to wash. These work great. You have to make sure you screw them on tight or they can leak. I love them and will be ordering more.

So nice to have plastic lids

I love these! I have the regular mouth and wide mouth versions. I use all sorts of Ball jars, depending on what I'm working on. Some to store flours, for making and storing salad dressing, for seasoning blends, for drinking, etc. So its fantastic to have these plastic lids and not have to deal with the rust and all that from the metal ones that come with the jars. They form a tight seal and work great.

    Perfect for my needs.

I liked these so much I ordered a second time. They have the lowest price too. I drill a hole in the lid for a straw and now I have sipper glasses for my family. I make up lemonade in the jars ahead a time covered with lids without a straw hole. This company ships fassst and packages well. Highly recommend.

Way better than the metal lids

Since I don't do any canning of my own, these are a lot better to use than the metal lids (you can't use these plastic lids for actual canning in a hot water bath...). Once I open up a new jar that somebody has canned for me, it is better to use these plastic lids than the metal ones. Plus, if I do want to store something for a long time these plastic ones can be used when freezing jars. Definitely handy to have around.

    1. The glass is safe for freezing, I have done it before. If you use these plastic caps you will be a lot better off than using the metal rings and lids (those are not safe for freezing). Just leave about an inch of space at the top of the jar and you should be safe; you need that room for the pressure increase when the juice freezes.

    2. Freezing in glass sure, my mother used to it all the time. When the lid is on tight, the glass could potentially crack due to expansion. So inspect your jars carefully before consuming. I know air is the enemy, but I only freeze for short term storage, weeks or up to a few months. Leftovers, soup, sauces, whole milk for my coffee. I leave a little empty space at the top of the jar to allow for expansion and leave the lid loosely attached during the first 12 hours of freezing. After the product has fully frozen (and expanded), I tighten up the lid as normal. The quality is fine. I'm on here shopping for plastic lids right now. Happy juicing, Nancy!

    1. There are eight reg plastic Ball caps in the box. They fit the reg mouth mason jars. They also come in wide mouth size too. I ordered twice for these and they have the lowest price of anyone I found. The company ships fast and are reputable. I drill a hole in the lid to make sipper glasses for my family.
