The paper texture changed since I bought my first pad. I noticed it was not as textured on the front or back as the first one was. However, I was pleasantly surprised how it still takes the paint very nicely and it is still pleasant to paint on. Even the back still can be painted on nicely. It is still a great paper to use for watercolors and a great deal for 50 sheets.
