It's not going to turn “on” or anything since you're just plugging the cord into the ground part of your outlet. It's meant to literally ground you energetically speaking. The mat is soft and thin and bendable so it's meant to be put away easily! The cord is very long, so that's also convenient but also a hazard if you have small kids, so keep in mind if it's just laying around on the floor. I grabbed this for my husband to have around the house but we both end up using it. I would've loved if one side was actual cotton, like where the skin comes in contact with it, but unfortunately it is a foam like plastic. No fragrance
