The top layer's open fiber construction traps LARGER PARTICLES, while the bottom layer's dense fiber network TRAPS FINE PARTICLES - working together to produce crystal clear water in your aquarium. Place our aquarium filter media in flowing water with the open weave side up to trap uneaten food, waste, decaying plants, detritus, and other large and fine floating particulates from the water. Regularly changing the pond filter pad will increase water quality by removing solid organic compounds before they continue to break down and add additional nutrients (which can increase algae growth) to the water in your fish tank. The filter material roll is constructed of durable polyester fibers bonded by our special resin to give the media exceptional strength. Choose to place the filter pad for fish tank directly in your aquarium filter from our bag or, if you prefer, rinse the pad first in clean, fresh water. The water should flow through our premium pad's open or looser fiber side first so that larger debris is trapped before entering the tight, weaved lower section of the pad.
