Let me start out by saying I live in the south, where it gets unbelievably hot and humid. I do have A/C, but here's where this unit comes in. My bedroom was an add on room, and whoever did the construction forgot to insulate it. So every summer I roast. Like literally, even with a floor fan and a ceiling fan, I absolutely melt. I can't even begin to describe how much this portable AC has improved my life since I got it. I absolutely love that it has a remote control and can be programmed so I can run it when I sleep and not worry about it wasting energy when I'm not home. It blows nice cold air and is not very loud at all. Definitely not so much that it disturbs me. Another benefit is the dehumidifier aspect. Along with melting, I'd often battled mildew because of the excess moisture in that one room. Now that isn't a concern. This unit is absolutely amazing and I love everything about it. It's easily movable being on wheel, very easy to program and get running, and has a remote in case you want to adjust anything. My quality of life has substantially improved, my sleep has substantially improved since I got this. I would 10000 times over recommend this portable AC
