Nothing like it.
Beneficial in that it shields the eyes from the sun while riding. The protruding nature of the cap's brim may cause more damage than good in certain collisions, although I have yet to experience one. Probably not suitable for use on trails due to this.

Not as protective as a regular helmet.
It is a fine helmet; if you are riding at a reduced speed in the park and not on the street, it should be sufficient. I am reminded of a baseball mitt by the padding. Thus, this headgear resembles having a baseball glove fastened to one's skull. Modern helmets are constructed with Styrofoam, which absorbs impact. That is precisely what this helmet does not do. If safety is of the utmost importance, purchase an alternative headgear.
