I've had some braids in my hair for about 3 or 4 months. Have taken them down and put in new hair for each month. My regular wash is ok when I take the braids down. But this product helps with the build up in between. I only apply it to my scalp and use a dandruff shampoo. I love the tingly feeling and how clean it smells and feels.
