Linksys Velop Dual Band AC3600 Intelligent Mesh WiFi Router Replacement System | 3 Pack | Coverage up to 4,500 Sq Ft | Walmart Exclusive

I'm not a techy so I was worried I'd have trouble setting this system up but it's just like it says Easy Setup. I installed the Linksys Velop setup app into my iPhone and the app pretty much guides you through the installation procedure. It also works on android phones. I removed my external router which is not needed any more. You have to plug in the supplied ethernet cord into anyone of the nodes and the other into the internet providers modem. You do have to change the new Wifi info in all your devices to the new Linksys system after you've completed the process. That took more time then installing the 3 nodes. After the first one is synced up you just have to repeat the process to activate the other 2 at different locations. I put one in basement, first floor office and second floor bedroom. During setup process the app on your phone will let you know if the locations selected are in the best spots for coverage. The coverage is up to 4500 sq. ft. Each node has 2 ethernet jack so if a device doesn't work wireless it can be plugged into the node. A 110vac receptacle will be needed close to the placement of each node. I usually prefer an ethernet connection but as far as the speed I can't tell the difference. It claims to be self healing with automatic updates.

A Wifi Mesh System is a little hard to explain to the layman, but I'll do my best in order to help illustrate the rest of the review. The difference between using a router and extenders to supply a large house with WiFi and using a mesh system is a complete difference in execution. Routers and the aptly named extenders extend the range of the router to fill more space. A mesh system is basically three routers all working in sync, constantly communicating with each other in order to maximize performance while keeping the range that extenders provide. The problem with extenders is that performance still is based on the distance from the router, not the extender. The signal is being extended for more devices to use it, but they still deal with that signal/connection being exponentially less efficient the further from the actual router you become. It is plain to see that Mesh systems (while generally) more expensive, are the preferred method for maximum coverage and performance over a large area. I will breakdown the use of this product into categories. 1. Installation – It was as easy as breathing. Just plug it up, and follow the instructions to get the device into setup mode for the main device (you can use any of the three nodes provided). 2. Presentation – The nodes themselves are wonderful, looking both classy and sleek at the same time, with an LED to help show connection status. 3. Performance – Wonderful, I ran speed tests from my phone in every corner of my home and walking around the perimeter and detected little to no drop off in performance. Do you need this product? If your house is larger than 2000 square feet and you have issues with connection speed/performance, then yes! If your house is smaller than that, you probably just need to pick a more central location for your wireless router. Some houses are set up in inconvenient ways for that to be feasible though, and this product could still be useful to you if your house falls into that category. Conclusion – 5 out of 5. This thing is easy to set up, looks great, and just plain works. What more could you want?
