Series 7, nothing else comes close!

This is the only brush that will maintain its cupped, pointed shape during all phases of your work. I strongly suggest you begin with the larger sizes, 7 thru 12. The ideal size for me was always the #10, as it enabled me to get the most done, quite rapidly. The greatest benefit is that you won't be switching back and forth, as you can use these to spot dust on a B&W print, just as effortlessly as you might fill in a Paynes-gray British sky. * One word of caution, moths eat sable, and provided you paint daily, you've nothing to worry about. Leave them to rot in the attic and you will have nothing left in a few years.

one very happy mini painter

My painting exclusively revolves around gaming miniatures and terrain. So what I want from a brush is probably going to vary greatly from those who paint on an easel. That said, I have encountered no better brush than this series. Mini painting is very hard on a brush so repeated use destroys all the qualities you look for when first buying one: namely a good pointed tip and accurate response to pressure (light to paint small areas, harder to splay the fibers out and cover wider areas). The range of use tends to force the fibers out of shape so getting a brush where the point snaps back to its original form is a godsend. This one does it consistently. I have literally done several just using a #2. Highly recommend.

Really nice brushes

I paint wildlife watercolors, mostly birds. I needed quality brushes for the fine detail required to capture life-like images of my subjects. I bought size 000 to 3 in Winsor & Newton Series 7. These brushes provide the control I need, while holding a generous amount of paint. I can scrub my work and the brushes still "point up" nicely. Though more expensive than other brushes, they were still quite affordable in these small sizes, especially at Jerry's discounted prices.
