The Big Bertha pepper plant is a must have for any home gardener. Not only does it bear huge 6-8 inch sweet peppers in abundance, but the bell pepper is a powerhouse full of vitamins and vital nutrients. The Bell pepper is low in calories, and contains a huge amount of Vitamin C (more than an orange). It also contains Vitamins B6, A, B2, B3, and nutrients such as potassium and magnesium. You almost cannot afford to grow this wondrous pepper plant. The massive, 6-8 inch-long glossy green bells are thick-walled, firm, and utterly delicious raw or cooked. One of the best tasting sweet bell peppers available. This is a very good pepper for stuffing, stir-frying, sauces, salads, adding to salsa and eating fresh out of the garden. It can be picked and used when it is green, but if left on the plant it will ripen to red and be even sweeter-if that is possible. Place plants in a sunny location 18-24 inches apart. They require a nutrient rich loamy (sandy) well-draining soil, with adequate watering; one inch per week is good. Organic materials, such as shredded leaves, grass clippings, and well- rotted decompose manure are a good source to enrich your soil. This is a big plant (up to 36 inches tall), so use a tomato cage or stakes to support because when the stems get heavy with big fruit, they can break in wind or rain. You can begin to harvest around 76 days from seeding. If kept picked they will continue producing throughout the growing season
