Low profile and outlet spacing are great.
The design of this device is nice in that it allows for the use of cords terminated with plug in transformer blocks. This was the main reason for my purchase. As it turned out the inclusion of the dual usb posts along the edge of the unit provided extra relief. It is unknown how effective the surge protection may be but the registration paperwork indicates some degree of coverage in the result of a loss.
