It's Time to Work on our Biases about Others!

'PsychoBabbleJabble's main focus is helping the reader recognize their own biases and giving them tools to help move past them if they so choose. This author has impeccable timing with this book and topic in 2021 as we are all recognizing that our biases are keeping us from growing and learning and moving forward as a country, as a people and as a race of one. And I really believe if the masses read this book, it would help us all get closer. This book is structured in a way that makes it really easy to read and understand. There are 33 chapters that cover topics like legacy, worth, death, guilt, hope, fear, power, faith, sex, choices and safety to name a few. The chapter topics are things that we may know we are biased about or they may be things that we may need to check in on. In each chapter, there is a section of what the author calls The Concept which includes information and science about the specific topic. The stories are where your brain really starts to get to work on helping you recognize when what you've always thought may just not be right in today's world i.e. your biases! There is also a page at the end of each chapter where the reader is encouraged to be more engaged and includes short quick notes To Think About, To Recall and To Act Upon if you so choose. My three favorite chapters, the ones that really spoke to me and made me think are listed below. The Concept section of all three of these chapters was very informative and interesting but wow these stories. Chapter 11: Treasures November Sand This story reminds you that treasures are temporary but when revered by the owner the memories they inspire are well worth the space they take up, in your heart and on a shelf. Chapter 25: Sex I'm Up Trust Me I'm Up This is the Sixth Sense story of the book the ending is just quite shocking and awesome. Its phenomenally written and it shows just how biased about sex and gender we really can be. If you don't read any other chapter, read this one. You wont be sorry. Chapter 27: Choices Making it To Forever This story is just beautiful. It talks about relationships, marriage, children, divorce, sexuality and love. Everything in life that we all strive for and fight to have. The pure honesty, love and care about oneself and others that comes out in this story is heartwarming and quite amazing. This was my favorite chapter and story of the entire book. Love is love is love. PyschoBabbleJabble is not an easy read. The author even says it will irritate most readers. But when you read it you will learn that we all have biases. Some are good and healthy. Some are not. Some we are willing to change. And some we are just not. But knowing that we all share in this is a positive step in helping us all get along better and respect the choices and decisions that we all make. I strongly recommend that you read this book today. You won't be sorry!
